Pakistan, Iran discuss expanding 100MW power supply, second transmission line
Pakistan and Iran are strengthening energy cooperation, with plans to launch a second cross-border transmission line and discussions on expanding the existing 100MW electricity supply. Talks in Islamabad also covered Gwadar’s growing power needs, with Iranian electricity imports expected to remain important to the port city’s long-term development. Both countries are also seeking to expand bilateral trade, with commerce projected to reach around $4 billion by year-end. Iran has expressed interest in routing a greater share of this trade through Pakistani ports, further supporting regional connectivity and maritime commerce.
