China provides equipment of early warning system to Gwadar port
China has provided Gwadar port with an early warning system to mitigate natural disasters like floods and heavy rains, enhancing emergency management capabilities under the Belt and Road Initiative. Collaboration between China Meteorological Administration and PMD aims to bolster Pakistan’s capacity for handling meteorological disasters, with efforts to improve institutional capabilities. Recent calamitous storms in Gwadar led to extensive damage, including the destruction of thousands of homes and loss of livestock, prompting rescue efforts by government agencies and military assistance in establishing medical camps for affected individuals.
